First Landing
Producer: Kristie J Stahl
Executive Producers: Michael Little & Lorene Wales
“Although the only entrant in the category, this film definitely deserves its gold award. With high production values and good period sets it has all the look of a big-budget Hollywood feature. There were one or two weak perfomances, but they didn't spoil the power of the film and its strong, but non-preachy, Christian message. A little known story that needed to be told.”

'The Truth Is Out There' by Steve Maltz
Published by Authentic Media
“It’s a brave publisher who backs a book which probably won’t be bought by its target reader. Steve Maltz is writing for the hardened sceptic who puts faith in science and sees no reason to consider the existence of God. The book is well-researched and accessibly written – questioning rather than haranguing the reader. It deserves an audience. “
BRONZE
'The Power and the Glory'
by Arthur White & Martin Saunders
Published by Authentic Media
“Arthur White knew the glory of life as a World Champion power-lifter as well as the glittering, but grimy life of East End gangsters. His story is simply told in gripping detail – without glossing over the pain and misery he felt and inflicted on family and friends. This modern day Amazing Grace story has stood the test of time and shows graphically how Christ can transform lives. “
SILVER
'Amazing Grace' by Eric Metaxas
Publisher: Monarch Books
“This beautifully-produced book stands out from the many written in 2007 about William Wilberforce and his campaign to end slavery. Linked to the movie through the use of film stills, Eric Metaxas’s excellent prose gives fresh insight on the faith journey of this man who wrestled with the powerful political issues of his day. It will inform and inspire a new generation of 21st Century activists. “
GOLD
'The Heavenly Party' by Michele Guinness
Publisher: Monarch Books
“Originality, humour and an accessible writing style make this book stand out. It invites Christians to party – to celebrate and share faith through festivals, symbols and ritual. True to Michele Guinness’s Jewish heritage, it puts family, community and food at the heart of the Christian faith. It’s a practical book to enjoy, to raid for party ideas and recipes, and to give as a gift to anyone who wants to recover the fun of the Christian faith.”

CMS Audiomission July 2007
'One Last Tour'
Producers: Trevor Smith & Gareth Sturdy
Presenters: Cindy Kent & Trevor Smith
Sound Design: Trevor Smith Produced for www.cms-uk.org
“I enjoyed this, although for me it was way too long. Very skilled storytelling and lovely audio pictures painted. Good actuality but without music/fx it didn’t quite work at 25 minutes. I think a little more editing and dropping a couple of the interviews towards the end would have improved the piece overall. Perhaps dropping the fundraiser and trimming both John at the start and the General Secretary at the end would’ve done the trick.”
SILVER
'Sex Addiction'
Presenter: Bridgitte Tetteh
Director: Phil Maltz
Producer: Kristie Winsen
Premier TV
“A good topic and a well-sourced guest. In common with the Audiomission ‘tour’ submission, it felt a little too long but the production and direction was excellent. Without getting too Dawkins about it, Premier.tv is certainly evolving and visually it was good to see a high standard of Christian-based AV content. It was a good engaging interview but I would like to have seen two or three drop-ins from the C4 documentary on sex addiction – that would have capped it really. So a good piece that would have been an excellent piece with a bit more trimming and a few clips from the documentary. “
SILVER
'Theshowwithnoname'
Presenter: Chip K
Producer: Chris Mountford
produced for www.crossrhythms.co.uk
“Dynamic and energetic – primarily targeted at young people. There’s an energy and passion about the ministry that comes through in the podcast. It’s nicely put together and the choice of sound bed keeps the tempo up. The features within are ok – certainly engaging. I found the wrath of strath a little incoherent in the latest podcast (8 Nov) – spontaneity is good but I felt a loose script would’ve helped here. Overall theshowwithnoname offers an engaging mix of reflection and information. Would look to freshen up the segments every now and again to maintain listener interest.”
GOLD
CMS Audiomission May 2007
'Samuel Ajayi Crowther'
Writer/Producer: Trevor Smith
Presenters: Burt Caesar & Trevor Smith
Sound Design: Trevor Smith
www.cms-uk.org
“This stood out for me. It was well produced – down to the creaking of ship sails (a nice touch) and the choice of audio backdrop to the story. I felt the Crowther feature was a really good length and was well voiced and mixed. Of all the submissions, this held my interest throughout with no wavering. This is the principle reason I gave the gold award to this one. It’s a shame one of the contributors was on a phone line as, in a well put together piece, it stood out. I felt justice was done to this historical story with the scripting, delivery and sound.”
